Some car names carry pure legend. RUF is one of them. Built on Porsche foundations but transformed into something entirely its own, RUF earned worldwide fame with the 1987 CTR "Yellowbird" — one of the fastest, wildest cars of its era. The CTR2 followed. And then, in 2012, came the finale: the CTR3.

This one was different. RUF tore up its own rulebook. The CTR3 is mid-engined and not based on a 911 at all. From the windscreen back, almost everything is unique — those muscular rear haunches, that unmistakable cabin shape. Even now, more than a decade later, it still stops people cold. The design is so bold you can almost "hear the shape" of the car.

Para64's 1987 CTR even won Lamley's "Model Car of the Year." This CTR3 completes the trilogy, and it's been one of collectors' most-requested models.

Like Nothing Else on the Road. The CTR3 broke RUF's own tradition. It's mid-engined, and it isn't based on a 911. The front comes from the Cayman, but almost everything else is unique. Those bulging rear wheel housings and the "baseball mound" cabin silhouette make it one of the most striking shapes ever built. This is not a modified anything.
