In the ’80s, the W126 was the car that said you’d made it. Bankers, statesmen and families across the Gulf drove one. The 560 SEL was the top of the range, with a long wheelbase, a 5.6-litre V8 and room to stretch out in the back. It still turns heads on the road today.

Norev made this 1:18 diecast for Mercedes-Benz as an official dealer edition. All four doors open, along with the bonnet and boot.

In 1979, Mercedes launched the W126 S-Class, and it quickly became the benchmark for every luxury saloon. The 560 SEL arrived later as the flagship, with a long body, a big V8 and a rear seat made for long journeys. It was solid, quiet and built to last for decades. In dark green with tan leather, it’s the classic spec. The ’80s flagship, now in 1:18. For the garage you’re building in scale.
