In the 1990s, Nissan set its sights on the greatest race in the world: the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But the rules came with a catch — to race, you needed a road-legal version of your car. So NISMO did something remarkable. They built the GT-R LM, a rare one-off road car, created purely so their racer could take the grid.

Based on the R33 GT-R, it was transformed: the body stretched 100mm wider, GT suspension underneath, European lights, and a chassis reworked from multi-link to double-wishbone. It even gave up the "Skyline" name to satisfy a racing rule. The road version kept a near-standard engine and no roll cage — because its real twin was out on the circuit. The GT-R LM raced at Le Mans, finishing 10th and then 15th, before Nissan's purpose-built R390 GT1 took up the fight.

A True Homologation Special. The GT-R LM exists for one reason: racing. To enter the JGTC (now Super GT) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the rules demanded a road-legal version. So NISMO built one — a rare, one-off road car created purely so the racer could compete. Very few cars carry a story this special.

Born From the R33 GT-R. Based on the R33, the body was widened by 100mm, fitted with GT-machine suspension, and given European-spec lights. Interestingly, it dropped the "Skyline" name — a rule blocked any car with a four-door version on the same chassis from entering. Pure racing logic, in a road-car shape.
